Using PayPal "Buy Now" Buttons

This overview provides a look at the various steps of using PayPal "Buy Now" buttons on CraftMall.com. If you use PayPal exclusively for accepting credit cards and do not wish to upgrade your PayPal account to use PayPal's Virtual Terminal, the CraftMall.com system allows you to setup PayPal "Buy Now" buttons for each of your products on CraftMall.com.

Please note that the documentation contained below for using the PayPal system is by no means meant to be a substitute for the official documentation provided by PayPal. The content contained within is merely an overview created to provide you insight as to the process of setting up PayPal "Buy Now" buttons for your products on CraftMall.com.

There are a few things that you need to check before generating your PayPal "Buy Now" button. First, login to your account on PayPal and click the "Profile" sub-tab.

Next, click on the "Website Payment Preferences" link under "Selling Preferences".

Scroll down the page until you see the "PayPal Account Optional" and make sure that the option is turned on.

Note: If the "PayPal Account Optional" option is turned off, tick the circle checkbox next to "On", scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the "Save" button. What this option does is allow customers who do not have a PayPal account to be able to purchase your product with a credit card without having to create a PayPal account. This is very handy because not everyone has a PayPal account and not everyone wants one.

Next, click on "Payment Receiving Preferences" under "Selling Preferences".

Make sure that your name or company name is displayed in the "Credit Card Statement Name" field. If it is incorrect, enter your name and press the "Save" button. This is very important as your name must appear correctly on the customer's credit card statement or the customer may become confused on who the charge came from and what the charge was for.

To create your PayPal "Buy Now" button, click on the "Merchant Tools" tab at the top of the page.

Next, click on the "Buy Now Buttons" link under "Accepting Website Payments".

You will use the "Buy Now" button generation page to create your "Buy Now" button. Please consult the PayPal documentation listed within the section for further details.

When creating your "Buy Now" button, it is recommended to encrypt your button code. Tick the circle checkbox next to "Yes" for button encryption under "Security Settings".

Note: If you plan to setup options for your product, button encryption is not valid. In this case, tick the circle checkbox next to "No".

Next, click the "Add More Options" button.

Be sure that your shipping and sales tax settings are correct. If you need to edit either of them, press the "Edit" button next to the setting that you wish to edit.

If you need to add options to your product, you can do so by using the "Add Option Fields to Your Page" section. Please consult the PayPal documentation listed within the section for further details.

Another important section is the "Miscellaneous" section. If you are selling multiple quantities of your product, it is recommended to tick the circle checkbox next to "Yes" under "Would you like your buyers to be able to purchase more than one of this item or service?". By ticking yes, a quantity box is provided to the customer for purchasing multiple quantities of your product.

It is also recommended to tick the circle checkbox next to "Yes, require shipping".

You are now ready to create your "Buy Now" button. Click the "Create Button Now" button to generate your "Buy Now" button code.

The resulting page displays the HTML code that you need. Copy the HTML code in the text box.

Now that you have your PayPal "Buy Now" button code, it is time to add your product to CraftMall.com. An important factor to take into consideration is that even though all of the details for the product have been keyed into PayPal, you will still need to enter your product information into the fields on the "Add new product" page on CraftMall.com. This is necessary for your product to be displayed properly within the CraftMall.com system.
