The "State Sales Tax" area allows you to
configure the USA (state level) sales tax
controls for your products. This controls how
sales tax is calculated and applied (according
to the state level) for orders shipped to USA
customers.
You can access the "States/Tax" page by
clicking the left side "States/Tax" link under
"Inventory".
Or you can click the "States/Tax" icon on the
main page of your personal administration area.
Configuring State Sales Tax:
Choose the state or states that you wish to
charge sales tax and configure one or more of
the following fields:
Tax(flat)
This field allows you to specify a flat dollar
amount. When a customer (who resides in the
state that you configure), buys one or more of
your product, they will be charged a flat dollar
amount in tax from the amount that you specify.
Tax(%)
This field allows you to configure a percentage
value (most common). Most states require a
specific percentage of the sale to be taxed when
the seller (or company) resides or is based
within the state. When a customer (who resides
in the state that you configure), buys one or
more of your product, they will be charged a
percentage in tax from the amount that you
specify.
Tax Shipping
If you need to also tax shipping, you may do so
by ticking the checkbox.
GST(%)
This field allows you to specify Canadian GST
percentage values for Canadian based sales.
PST(%)
This field allows you to specify Canadian PST
percentage values for Canadian based sales.
Once you have entered values for the state or
states that you wish to charge sales tax, scroll
to the bottom of the page and press the "Update"
button to save your settings.
