One of the best ways to promote sales is to
offer your products at a sale price. To create a
sale, use the sale option on the "Modify
product" page or you can initiate a sale when
you first add a product. Steps for setting
up a sale:
The "sale" option consists of "Apply sale
price", "Sale price", "Start date" and "End
date".
To activate the sale functionality, tick the
"Apply sale price" check box and enter the price
that you would like to sell your product for
during the sale in the "Sale price" field. Now
select the date that you would like to begin the
sale via the "Start date" dropdown boxes. You
can immediately start the sale by setting the
start date to today's date or you can set a
future date and the sale will begin
automatically once the "Start date" has been
reached. Next, specify the date at which you
wish to end the sale by choosing the date via
the "End date" dropdown boxes. The sale will end
automatically once the "End date" has been
reached and the price of the product will be
changed back to the original "Retail" price. To
finish the sale setup, press the "Submit
changes" button. When the sale is underway,
the display of your product reflects the sale by
displaying the normal "Retail" price with a
strike-through and the sale price. The "End
date" is also displayed to notify the customer
of when the sale ends.
All in all, this is an excellent way to
promote sales of your product and the sale
functionality is powerful enough to automate the
beginning of the sale and the ending of the sale
for you based on the "Start date" and "End date"
that you specify.
