Product Options
You can set additional options for a product if you want your customer to choose color, size, packing, etc. You can list options in the Options list for your customer to choose, or let the customer type the text him(her)self.

To access the "Product options" feature, click on "Modify product" and use the "Search products" interface to find and list your product. In the "Search results" display, select the product that you wish to modify and click the "Modify" button. On the "Modify product" page for your selected product, scroll down to the "Product options" section.

It is recommended to have NO duplicating 'Option classes' for each product to avoid confusion. Leave 'Options list' empty if you want your customer to be able to enter custom information instead of selecting from options.

If you need the price of the product to change based on the option that the customer selects, you can do so by specifying the following symbols: "=", "+", "-" and "%". Let's say for example, your product has gold thread and gold ribbon as an option but you need to charge an extra dollar when a customer selects "gold". You can do so by creating your product options and specifying gold as "Gold=+1". With this configuration, if a customer chooses "gold" as an option, an additional dollar is automatically added to the price of the product.

Additional Examples:
Option class   Option text Pos. Options list
Cover Choose cover   1 Soft
Hard=+5
Color Choose color   2 Red=-4%
Blue=+5
Brown

Steps for setting up product options:

  1. Enter the title of the option class in the Option class cell.
  2. Enter the option description for your customer in the Option text cell.
  3. If the product already has one or more options, enter the position number for the option. The smaller position number is the product option which will be placed upper in the list of product options.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Enter the options in the Option list cell.
    • Leave the Option list empty. In this case the customer can type appropriate information in the text field, which appears on the customer front end.
  5. Click Apply.

Exceptions

Example exception: Color=Blue; Size=XL

If any of the product options or option combinations are not available, you can define it by using Exceptions as you see in the example above. In this example a customer will not be able to order the product with the blue color and size XL options.

Product options validation

Product options validation allows a means of confirming the customer's selected options. This however is not for the faint of heart and requires some knowledge in coding. If done incorrectly, errors will be displayed to the customer, so if you are unsure of the proper syntax, leave the product options validation area alone.
