Files
The "Files" area allows you to upload and manage files that you can include links to on your product pages. For example, this is handy for music artists who are selling their CDs and wish to provide audio samples for potential customers to listen to.

When uploading files, the location of the files are of the following:
http://www.craftmall.com/files/yourloginname/

You can add an extra field and provide the link (to the uploaded file) within the extra field.

Access the "Files" page by clicking the left side "Files" link under "Inventory".

Managing files:
In the file manager, you have several options such as the ability to create new directories, copy an existing file (already uploaded and residing on the server), upload new files and delete existing files (already uploaded and residing on the server). The files and directories that you create reside in your dedicated area and do not affect other crafters or the server itself. We require that each crafter remain within a 100MB limit for their file area but if you have a large amount of sample files and need additional space, please contact us. Note that the 100MB limit is only within the file area and does not include any limits on your product thumbnails or product detail images. You can essentially upload an unlimited number of product detail images but keep in mind that the more images that you include on your product pages, the more time a customer has to wait for the images to download and display.

To create a new directory:

  1. Enter the name of the directory (excluding any spaces) that you wish to create in the text box next to the "New Dir" button.
  2. Note: If you want to create a new directory in a sub-directory, you must first click the directory name, for which you want to create a new sub-directory.

  3. Click the "New Dir" button and a new directory will be created with the name that you specified.

To create a copy of a file:

  1. Select the file on the Browse files form.
  2. Enter the location and the name of the file copy you want to create (for example "readme_copy.txt").
  3. Click the "Copy to" button.

To delete a file or directory:

  1. Select the file on the Browse file form.
  2. Click Delete and the confirmation window opens.
  3. Click OK to confirm, or
    Click Cancel to cancel deleting.
Warning Note: When you delete a directory, all of the files and sub-directories under that directory will be deleted.

To upload a file from your local computer:

If you are replacing a file that currently resides on the server from a previous upload, be sure to tick the "Rewrite file if exists" checkbox in order to properly overwrite the original file with your new upload.

Click the "Browse" button next to the "Upload" field.

Once clicked, your Operating Systems' native file browser opens. In this example, we are using Windows XP so use the proper method according to your particular OS. Browse to the location of your file and click once to highlight it. Once highlighted, press the "Open" button.

Warning Note: When preparing your files (on your local computer) for upload, always save them with file names that contain no spaces.

Once the "Open" button has been clicked, the "file browser" window closes and the location of your local file is entered within the Upload field. Press the "Upload" button to upload your file to your file area on the server.
